1. Introduction

SocialNeon (“we”, “us”, or “our”) provides an analytics dashboard that helps users understand their Instagram and social media performance. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that data.

By using SocialNeon, you agree to the data practices described in this policy. If you do not agree, please discontinue use of the service.

2. Data We Collect

When you connect your Instagram and Facebook accounts via OAuth, SocialNeon collects the following data through the official Instagram Basic Display API, Instagram Graph API, and Facebook Graph API:

• Instagram account username and account type (Personal, Creator, Business)
• Follower count and media count
• Media metadata: media type, caption text, timestamps, permalinks, thumbnail and media URLs
• Hashtags used in your captions
• Insights data where available (account insights, media insights)
• Facebook Pages you administer (names and IDs)
• Instagram Business accounts linked to your Facebook Pages
• Saved competitors and competitor data you enter manually
• Snapshots and reports you generate

We do not collect:

• Direct messages or private communications
• Email addresses (unless you provide them voluntarily for support)
• Payment information
• Location data beyond what is publicly available in media metadata
• Browser fingerprinting or tracking data beyond essential cookies

3. How We Collect Data

Data is collected exclusively through official Meta/Instagram APIs using OAuth 2.0 authentication. When you connect your account, you grant specific permissions (scopes) that define what data SocialNeon can access. We do not scrape, crawl, or collect data through any unauthorized means.

If approved for Instagram Public Content Access, SocialNeon may also retrieve public hashtag media through the official Instagram Graph API Hashtag Search endpoints, using seed hashtags you provide.

4. OAuth Token Storage

OAuth access tokens and refresh tokens are stored securely server-side in Cloudflare KV (key-value storage). Tokens are:

• Encrypted at rest and in transit
• Never exposed in the client-side UI or JavaScript
• Never shared with third parties
• Automatically refreshed when expired
• Deleted when you disconnect your account or request data deletion

5. How We Use Data

SocialNeon uses the collected data exclusively to provide the following features:

• Display your Instagram profile, media, and insights in the dashboard
• Generate account trend analysis (hashtag frequency, posting patterns, content type breakdown)
• Provide media analysis and performance metrics
• Enable competitor research through Business Discovery API
• Generate reports and snapshots
• If approved: public hashtag research via Instagram Graph API Hashtag Search

We do not sell your data. We do not use your data for advertising, training AI models, or any purpose other than operating SocialNeon for you.

6. Data Sharing

We do not sell, trade, or otherwise transfer your data to third parties. The only third-party services involved in data processing are:

• Cloudflare — hosting, KV storage, and CDN
• Meta / Instagram — the API providers from whom we request data on your behalf

7. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account remains connected. When you disconnect your Instagram or Facebook account, or request data deletion, we remove:

• OAuth tokens and session data
• Cached Instagram/Facebook API responses
• Saved competitors and snapshots
• Report cache

Some residual data may remain in backups for up to 30 days before being permanently deleted.

8. Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access — request a copy of the data we hold about you
• Rectification — correct inaccurate data (most data is sourced directly from Instagram and cannot be modified; correct it there)
• Deletion — request deletion of your data (see the Data Deletion page)
• Portability — request a machine-readable export of your data
• Withdraw consent — disconnect your Instagram or Facebook account at any time

9. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated “Last updated” date. We encourage you to review this policy periodically.
